Don*t worry, I*m still a Novelty Girl (and by the way, check out the post today on Banned Books Week - there*s a contest).Did anyone watch Ugly Betty tonight? It was awesome. I can admit, I watch tooooo much TV as it is, but boy that was a good show. I can*t wait to see it next week. There*s just something about an underdog making it in the world of the size 2s and succeeding. My September contest is coming to a close on Saturday. As a reminder, the prizes are:1 $5.00 Gift Cert to Cobblestone Press2 $10 Gift Cert to Bath and Body Works3 A download of One Week Stand4 Gift Basket from Bath and Body WorksAnd of course, there will be another contest starting October 1st as well, but this one will be a little different. There Are Days.... |
When I love parts of my job....and when I REALLY love parts of my job. Spending Money!!!! The good thing about being a librarian is I get a budget, and a pretty niced sized one at that. I began the day shelving tons of books back, and then sat down at the computer, found my consideration file and started cruising the net for young adult and middle grade books. It was great fun I gotta tell you. I*m not finished yet. What I*m going to try and do is spend half of my budget this fall, and then the other half in the spring. I love love fiction, but I also need to update my non-fiction titles so I think I*ll spend tomorrow looking for some non-fiction titles.Last get to know you question(s)...What city and state were you born in? AND, If you could live in any city/country in the world, where would it be?I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Sydney, Australia. It seems like such a beautiful city.Smooches, Lyric |

Getting To Know You - Question #6 |
I had a dentist appointment today. Yes...Ouch! But honestly, I don*t so much mind the dentist. I*ve been going to one ever since was I little when I had braces, so I don*t fear going. But the pain associated with it afterwards I can never get used to as my gums right now are really hurting. I*m waiting for my BC to kick in so I can eat my dinner. What*s really bugging me about this visit though, is I have a cracked tooth, which means I have to get a crown, which also means $$$. That*s the big Ouch! I do have dental insurance to pay for half of it, but still, spending $ is still spending $ when you didn*t plan for it. Thank goodness we have savings. They want me to come in tomorrow to get it done. But my husband already had a scheduled appointment at 3 - they want me to come in at 2 - which leaves us no one to watch the kiddos while we*re both strapped in the chairs. LOL So, I might have to see if they can squeeze me in on Wednesday instead. All of this means I*m in for more pain one more day this week. Oh well...I think I*d rather have a little pain than lose a tooth. If you could be trapped in a TV show for one month, which show would you choose? Hmmm...I absolutely love Desperate Housewives, but Shemar Moore IS on Criminal Minds. So either one of the two would do for me. Have a great day. Lyric |

Stormy Weekend |
I*m in the middle of thunderstorm and tornado warning and watches right now. It*s all gloomy outside as a I hear a crackle of thunder and see a spark of lightening outside my window. And of course, this is going to put a damper on my computer time today. I hate to be on the computer when it*s so tempermental outside. But, I had to jump on and post my getting to know you question of the day and to also tell you that I*m over at the Novelty Girls today, so stop by there too as you cruise through the blogosphere.I hope you*re having a less stormy day than me.If you could be any age for one week, what age would it be? Why?I*d go back to when I was 25 so I could slap some sense into myself and tell me NOT to marry my first husband. It only lasted 7 months. Ouch!Smooches, Lyric |

Youth |
I think I've mentioned before that I've been best friends with my friend Kim for over 17 years. Well, today her oldest turned 16 years old, and all I could think about was what my life was like when I was that age. What were my dreams? What did I want to be when I grew up? I also realized that he has his whole life in front of him. He's a very smart (straight A) student and wants to attend Duke University and major in Engineering. And in my heart of hearts, I know he'll succeed. His birthday also made me think about where I want to be in my life in the next 5, 10, 15 years. Will I have accomplished my dream of becoming a published (New York) author? Will the desire still be there? After all, one third of my life has already passed. What about you, where do you want to be in 10 years?Today's getting to know you question. If you were the eighth dwarf, what would your name be?My answer - Lusty! LOLSmooches, Lyric |

Getting To Know You - Question #3 |
Don't forget to enter the Novelty Girls Contest. The last day is today!!! We're giving away a lot of great prizes. Today's "get to know you question is..." Would you rather be a butterfly or a cockroach? Why? I'd rather be a butterfly because they start out as catipillers and evolve into something else, beautiful and free. Smooches, Lyric |

Getting To Know You |
Yesterday was a special day for me. Nine years ago, my husband and I met on a blind date. So, happy first meet anniversary to me. :-) And guess what, I still have the receipt from that date. On our first anniverary, my hubby had it laminated and gave it to me as one of my gifts and I still have it. Isn*t that all sweet and mushy? LOL In honor of yesterday*s post, I decided that I*d post some more get to know you questions over the next week or so. And no, I was not creative enough to come up with these questions....I stole them from The Romance Divas, a forum I*m on. So, get ready to share.
If your life were made into a television show, would it be a soap opera, a drama, or a sitcom? What would it be called? My answer - a sitcom called...My Husband and Kids...And My Job...and My Students and a little Writing. LOL Your turn! Smooches, Lyric |

Rolling...Rolling...Rolling |
The reviews keep rolling in...and good ones too. :-) Contessa from Romance Junkies gives One Week Stand 5 Ribbons Talk about smoking hot! Lyric James' ONE WEEK STAND is highly arousing and very amusing. I was in a constant state of passionate desire from start to finish. Picture coming face-to-face with the person that you shared a one night stand with - the one person who you thought you would never see again. As you can imagine, sparks flew and it was very intense in more ways than one. The attraction that brought Jasmine and Evan together in the first place was still there and the chemistry between them refused to be denied. Throw in an unbeknownst friend/cousin who was determined to unite them as a couple which only added more fuel to the blazing fire. You will be both laughing and panting to catch your breath as you work your way through this breathtaking story. I took great pleasure in reading this astounding tale. Ms. James is fast becoming one of my favorite authors! Whoohoo! Another awesome review. It won't be posted on their website until next month though. Join me tomorrow on the CataNetwork Readers Loop. I'll be online from 2p - 3p CST sharing excerpts. Smooches, Lyric |

Another Review!!! |
Sheryl from Ecataromance gave One Week Stand 4 Stars!!! A sinful delight, One Week Stand takes the reader on a ride through passion and leaves them gasping for more. I loved reading about all of these characters, they seemed larger than life and so real that I expected to look around me and see them. I fell in love with Evan and Jasmine... Isn*t that great! Click here to read all of the review. Well, on a personal note I signed both my girls up for Karate today. We finished the complimentary lessons last week and they enjoyed themselves so much, we decided to go ahead and sign them up. Because my hubby is a police officer, we got 20 percent off the join up fee and the monthly fee, which was great. It ended up being much cheaper than I thought it would be...which is good. Karate is supposed to build self-confidence and self-esteem, plus teach them discipline and help them learn how to protect themselves. In the world these days, girls need that. So, I hope it helps. I was swamped today at work so I didn't get to get any writing done. Then, we had to rush home and do homework and get ready for class. After we got home, I had to cook and get all the little people bathed and ready for bed. So, as I sit here at ten o'clock, I*m about as pooped as I can be. I*m off for a shower and bed. Oh... went to Barnes and Noble today and spent waaayyyy too much money on books, but I couldn't help myself. And I still didn't get one of the books I wanted because for the life of me, I couldn't remember the author*s name. Now, I HAVE to go back and get it. Right? LOL I hope you all had a great and blessed day. Smooches, Lyric |

Thought I'd Share |
Did any of you notice the difference on my blog yesterday? My good buddy, Shelli Stevens guided me through removing the WIP's in the margin and instead, adding pictures of my books. Besides, I wasn*t updating that dang word meter anyway, and two of those WIP*s I've kinda put off to the side for now. Which reminds, me, I really need to get my webpage updated. Hmmm...too many things to do. Well, since my web page does needs updating I thought I*d share what I*m currently working on. This story has been really calling to me since I got an *R* on it and I actually think I*ve figured out a way to still keep it paranormal, but a little bit different. So, here's the blurb...let me know what you think. Robyn Hood Jewel Thief Robyn Hood gets more than she bargained for when she breaks into the mansion on the hill. She witnesses a murder. And not just any murder. It*s something supernatural that can*t be explained and no one will believe. Things get even worse when the police believe the person who robbed the house committed the crime. So, Robyn decides to hide out with on again off again love Brandon Davis, who has secrets of his own he*s been keeping. As a secret agent of the PPF (Paranormal Police Force) Brandon Davis knows all about those things that go bump in the night. For the last ten years, he*s worked to keep the witches, warlocks, vampires and other creatures of the night a secret from the *normal* world. However, things get a little dicey when the love of his life gets blamed for a crime he knows she didn’t commit. Can Brandon protect Robyn and find the real killer before she becomes the next victim? Notice the title? My Robyn Hood has a reason she's a thief too, but you*ll just have to wait and read the book to find out why. :-) Smooches, Lyric Robyn Hood |

Remembering.... |
I remember exactly where I was September 11, 2001. In a classroom full of students. It was my second year teaching, it was second period and we were going about our day just like normal. Then, a friend and fellow teacher came down to my room and told me what happened. I was like...you're lying...no way. At this point, only the first tower had been hit. I turned the TV on in my room and probably about 10 minutes later, the second plane hit and we (me and my students) couldn't believe it was real.I watched the movie United 93 on DVD Saturday. My husband bought it last week I think, but I wanted to wait to watch it. (I'll tell you another story about my hubby's hobby/obsession with DVD's another day.) It was hard to watch a movie that you already knew the outcome to. But seeing the background stuff at the FCC and with the air-traffic controllers and the military was really eye opening. If it was true, boy I sure hope they've improved since then. Well, I honor and salute those who lost their lives that day and hope their families are coping with the loss.I decided that I was going to start posting my daily progress with the WIPs I*ve been working on. Hopefully, this will help me keep mywriting butt in gear and stop being a slacker. LOLRobyn Hood Death for Dessert Under Cover |

3 Cups from Coffee Time RomanceThis is a sweet love story with some really scorching love scenes. Amid the hoopla of a large wedding, two of the wedding party find out they are able to relive the fiery attraction they found for each other in the past.
