Pink Posse Contest
Whoohoo! Today's the day (and week for that matter) that several of me and my fellow Cobblestone Press authors will be guests on the Pink Posse yahoo group. So, in honor of the occasion and that Friday is the "big day," I'm hosting a contest. The winner will receive a gift certificate for any book of their choice from the "opening books" at C.P.

What do I need to do you ask?.....Well...go to my website www.lyricjamesbooks.net and read the excerpt for "A Thin Line," and answer this question...."What does Melodie say about the bartender?"

Then, come back to my blog and place your answer with this post. I'll draw from the winning entries tonight at 8:30p.m. Central. Happy reading!

Whoohoo! I'm back...Count Down and Chat!!!
I think I said before that I was going to make every effort to try and post at least once a week to my blog. But, with a new baby...that's become a little difficult. However, I will do my best.

Cobblestone Press will officially open it's doors next Friday, June 2nd. I'm so excited. Even though I'm not one of the "opening" authors, I'm so excited for those ladies and can't wait to spend my own money purchasing their books. I hope you join me!! I continue to be impressed with all the impressive books coming out and the wonderful artwork for those covers. It is absolutely freakin' awesome!!!

I will be chatting Monday, May 29th at the Pink Posse. In fact, Cobblestone Press is the feature pub all next week. So, please stop by and say hello. I'll be giving away prizes and so will the other authors. Come check us out.

King Henry

Well...I've been away for awhile. My goal was to post at least once a week to keep you updated on my life and writing...and I was going to....but someone called "King Henry" happened. My "King Henry" is actually my newborn son, Henry IV born on May 2nd at 11:33 a.m. And let's just say, his arrival was very eventful.

If you didn't know already, I'm a middle school librarian. Well, around 10:15am or so, while I was helping some students find books, I started to have some severe abdominal pain. Well, since I've never experienced contractions before (both of my daughters were born by C-section) I wasn't sure what was going on. I didn't know if I had gas or I had to potty real bad. So, I toddled off to the restroom and well...you know. Anyway, as I finished, all I saw was blood. Again, since I never experienced normal pregnancy delivery stuff, this was very scary for me because I didn't know if this was normal or not.

I went back into the library and told my friend, Melissa, who was on prep, that I was bleeding and going to call my doctor. She said, "Oh NO...I'm taking you to the hospital....RIGHT NOW!!! You can call your doctor on the way."

So, after informing the right people, off we went doing 120 on the freeway to Baptist Hospital. I called my doctor, my husband, and my mother on the way. I was bleeding profusely the entire time, and then my water broke halfway there. I was very dizzy and groggy from losing so much blood that I thought I was going to pass out.

We arrived at the hospital emergency room, did a real quick check-in, then they rushed me upstairs to the second floor. And let's just say, once they saw what was going on with me, all heckity heck broke loose and those nurses sprung into action, helping me take off my clothes because I was still dizzy, putting me on a fetal monitor, calling anethesia, my doctor again, the OR for an emergency C-section, my doctor again, any doctor...well, you get the point. Oh, and did I mention, they stuck me probably four times trying to find a vein to get an IV in me because it was real difficult because I was still losing a lot of blood AND I heard things like, "we can't hear the baby's heart beat."

My husband finally arrived as they were swinging me out of a normal labor and delivery room to an OR. He joined us very confused and upset because he didn't know what was going on and while he'd been standing outside, he heard those nurses calling for all that stuff I mentioned above....and crying!!! I was like, "oh, my goodness" after he told me all of this because they were really composed when they were in the room with me.

Anyway, off I rolled to the OR, crying myself now, where I was put to sleep to bring my little bundle of joy into the world at 11:33am. I woke up around 2ish to find that everthing was well, but for a minute there we were both in danger of dying. Thank goodness I'm able to sit at home, at my computer, with my little miracle king in my arms to tell you all of this. We arrived home Saturday afternoon, very happy and well. Now, off to rest! Isn't my king a cutie!? This was taken at the hospital.
